World Bank suspended $1.2 billion loan because of corruption allegations in consultants appointment, river dredging, and selections of contractors of this project. The other lending organisations including JAICA, ADB also suspended funds for this project. so Padma bridge construction now stopped although Bangladesh Government already spent more than 1 billion Taka for land acquisitions and other primary works.
